HELLO TO A BRAND NEW YEAR?
The first day of 2005 didnt kick off with a bang for me. To start of with, Wan and i were both not in a party mood on new year's eve. My great enthusiasm for dancing, loud music, booze and crowds had somehow diminished throughout the years. No urge to prance around and wait till midnite to squeal and celebrate.
Last night all i wanted was time alone for myself and my fiance. The weather as well as recent events concocted by mother nature did no help to lift me up and put on my party gear. The dark and gloomy skies shrouds me in a heaviness which leaves me feeling like i should just stay put and think about my life and our future. So we went for a quiet dinner and spent some time alone on new year's eve. While the nation was counting down the last few seconds to usher a brand new year followed by sounds of massive 'auld lang synes', i was on the way home with wan. I did not feel the urge to celebrate at all. I guess this comes with age. When you get to a certain age, you ponder about more important issues than to have fun or fool around. Your priorities change. My priorities have indeed changed. Today, while the world suffers from last nite's hangover, i went to a majlis cukur rambut of an ex-colleague's new bundle of joy all the way at Bukit Batok and then off to Wan's granny's place. They were karaoke-ing when i arrived. Thought of joining the chorus but too bad they didn't have An Jing *winks*. Anyhow, i had a dose of M Daud Kilau and Pop yeh yeh numbers. Eeooww! The makciks and the pakciks were manhandling the karaoke set so need i say more? Cajoled his granny to sing along but all she did was pinching me cheekily while pushing the microphone back to me. And i ate a wee bit too much. Maybe i should try to start exercising as a resolution for this year (since i did not make any)? Oh heck, i dont believe in resolutions. I never stick to them anyway. So much for a brand new year huh? I woke up today feeling no different than i did yesterday. Funny, it felt like any ordinary weekend.
